چکیده

We \vill present research associated }vith the sound modeling soft$~rare called Lemur. In Lemur, Jve have developed a ne}v extension LOthe sinusoidal modeling technique of McAulay and Qua~ieri to accommodate sounds having significant non-sinusoidal energy. Lemur models sounds as a collection of par[ials having amplitude, frequency, and band!vidth envelopes. Band!vidth envelopes allotv Lemur [o preserve energy and fidelity during pruning and editing operations. Lemur’s synthesis includes a spectral line }videning technique to spread energy a~vay from each partial’s center frequency according to bandividth envelopes.

Bandwidth Enhanced Sinusoidal Modeling in Lemur

We present a system for sound modeling and synthesis that preserves the elegance and malleability of a sinusoidal model, while accommodating sounds with noisy (non-sinusoidal) components. We use an enhanced McAulay-Quatieri (MQ) style analysis that extracts bandwidth information in addition to the sinusoidal parameters for each partial. To produce noisy components, we synthesize with sine wave ...

Lemur - A Tool for Timbre Manipulation

Kelly Fitz, Lippold Haken, and Bryan Holloway CERL Sound Group, University of Illinois 103 S. Mathews, Urbana IL 61801, USA [email protected] Abstract We will present Lemur, a system for generating and manipulating sinusoidal models for sampled sound, implemented as a MacintoshTM program. Our system uses an enhanced McAulay-Quatieri (MQ) style analysis for modeling sampled sounds. The system provi...

A New Algorithm for Bandwidth Association in Bandwidth-Enhanced Additive Sound Modeling

The Bandwidth-Enhanced Additive Model represents sound as a collection of partials having sinusoidal and noise-like characteristics. Bandwidth Association is the process of constructing the bandwidth envelopes for partials in the bandwidth-enhanced model by associating noise energy not captured by conventional sinusoidal modeling processes. We present analytical methods for collecting and assoc...

A hybrid sub-band sinusoidal coding scheme

This paper describes a hybrid sub-band speech coding scheme based on sinusoidal coding and CELP. Purely voiced speech is encoded using sinusoidal coding techniques and phase information is selectively transmitted. For mixed and unvoiced speech, the lower band is processed by sinusoidal coding algorithms while the upper band is encoded using CELP. To accommodate the extra bandwidth required by t...

Sound Morphing using Loris and the Reassigned Bandwidth-Enhanced Additive Sound Model: Practice and Applications

The reassigned bandwidth-enhanced additive sound model is a high-fidelity representation that allows manipulations and transformations to be applied to a great variety of sounds, including noisy and nonharmonic sounds. Combining sinusoidal and noise energy in a homogeneous representation, the reassigned bandwidth-enhanced model is ideally suited to sound morphing, and is implemented in the open...
